Position Description:(primary functions)
Teaches courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Dean for Academic Affairs.
Minimum Requirements:
Master鈥檚 degree in English or Master鈥檚 degree and 18 graduate hours in teaching discipline (experience in teaching, developing lessons plans, course syllabi, student advising, and student scheduling; computer skills; ability to utilize various teaching methodologies and instructional technology; good interpersonal skills).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy.
- Updates and revises course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain currency and relevance.
- Maintains familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids and techniques, computer technology relative to courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption when appropriate.
- Seeks ways to improve instruction.
- Provides advice and/or assistance to associate faculty in regard to course content and instructional materials.
- Maintains accurate student attendance rosters.
- Attends scheduled discipline and division meetings when required.
- Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines.
- Submits required reports to the Director of Educational Outreach in a timely manner.
