His keynote address is expected to inspire graduates with a message centered on perseverance, transformation, and the power of education to uplift communities.

鈥淲e are honored to welcome Dr. Lee to address our graduating class,鈥 said Dr. Valmadge T. Towner, President of 果冻传媒app. 鈥淗is life鈥檚 work mirrors the values we strive to instill in our students鈥攁cademic excellence, service, and leadership rooted in integrity and equity.鈥

Dr. Lee鈥檚 journey in education began at Alcorn State University in 1974 as a music instructor. Over his remarkable 46-year tenure at Alcorn, he held a number of prominent roles, including Chair of the Department of Fine Arts, Director of the Honors Curriculum Program, Dean of Graduate Studies, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Interim President. His strategic leadership ushered in academic expansion, technological innovation, and enhanced opportunities for student success through graduate funding and program development.

A nationally recognized advocate for honors education, Dr. Lee grew Alcorn鈥檚 honors program from a modest cohort of 25 students to more than 250, building a model of academic rigor and enrichment. He served as president of three national honors organizations: the Southern Regional Honors Council (SRHC), the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), and the National Association of African American Honors Programs (NAAAHP), demonstrating his commitment to inclusive excellence and academic distinction.

During his time as Interim President at Alcorn, Dr. Lee led several institutional milestones, including the launch of two major campus construction projects and the approval of the university鈥檚 first-ever doctoral program鈥攖he Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). These accomplishments reflect his ability to drive transformative change while staying grounded in the mission of student-centered education.

Beyond his professional accolades, Dr. Lee is also known for his personal investment in student mentorship. Former students frequently credit his guidance and encouragement as key factors in their academic and career achievements. His passion for helping students succeed is matched by his belief in the transformative potential of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

In July 2020, Dr. Lee retired from Alcorn State University and transitioned into his current role as President of Tougaloo College, where he continues to shape the future of higher education with a focus on equity, access, and leadership development. His lifelong dedication to uplifting underserved communities through academic empowerment aligns seamlessly with Coahoma鈥檚 mission.

Under his leadership at Tougaloo, the college has seen renewed efforts in expanding academic offerings, increasing scholarship support, and building partnerships with national organizations to strengthen opportunities for first-generation college students. Dr. Lee鈥檚 ability to bridge tradition with innovation continues to make a profound impact in the educational landscape.
