(Clarksdale, Mississippi) 鈥 果冻传媒app students are advancing their understanding of intellectual property (IP) after learning about it in their Computer Concepts and Computer Applications courses this spring. Professor Monica Tompkins incorporated IP education as part of the Michelson Intellectual Property Institute鈥檚 HBCU Futures Collaborative Spring Cohort.
Through this grant-supported program, 80 Coahoma students learned how intellectual property impacts entrepreneurs, creators, and professionals in innovation-driven fields such as STEM and the arts. Professor Tompkins utilized Michelson IP resources, including the Intangible Advantage textbook, slide presentations, and assessments, to deliver meaningful instruction that connected directly to students鈥 real-life goals and experiences.
鈥淚P education is crucial in today's innovation-driven world, especially for entrepreneurs, creators, and students in STEM and the arts. Yet, it often doesn't get the attention it deserves in standard curricula,鈥 said 果冻传媒app leadership.
According to student survey results:
- 52.8% intend to seek advanced courses or seminars on intellectual property
- 47.2% are interested in pursuing a formal IP-related course
- 69.4% plan to read more books or articles on IP in the near future
- 58.3% are more inclined to attend future IP workshops or webinars
- 52.8% are considering joining IP networks or organizations
- 44.4% intend to connect with professionals or experts in the IP field
Students shared how IP education sparked practical applications. One barbering student, who crafts custom blades, expressed excitement about learning ways to market and protect his products, while another student leveraged IP knowledge to strengthen a history presentation.
Professor Tompkins praised the clarity and accessibility of the Michelson materials and noted students鈥 high engagement with the lessons. She recommended continued improvements in accessibility and application processes to further support educators in future cohorts.
果冻传媒app remains committed to providing innovative and practical educational opportunities that prepare students for success in their respective fields.
